Meet Chris

Hi I’m Chris Hogben, a freelance photographer based in Penzance, Cornwall.

I’ve enjoyed taking photos of people for as long as I can remember. I discovered my love for it back in college when I handed a contact sheet of negatives to Mr Garity, my charming A Level photography teacher. He peered down his nose at the prints, paused for a moment, and then without taking his eyes off the sheet he slowly said to me “Yes…you’ve got the eye”.

He may as well have said “yer a wizard ‘arry.”

So when not tucking into 6,000px RAW files to retouch the tiniest of pixels, I’m lugging around a battered old Canon AT-1 a roll of 35mm HP5 Plus. I enjoy taking photos of other people far too much, covering someone’s big day, nailing a shot of a speaker talking to a crowd, capturing that moment when a parent smiles at their kid, or the satisfaction of lighting a portrait just right.

I enjoy every second of every minute when I have my camera in my hands.

And it’s never felt like work.
