This maternity photoshoot took place in Beckenham Place park in South London. I enjoy doing maternity photography, and on this bright summers day in a lush green surrounding it was easy to get really into it and make the most of the space. Little Leo was around 7 or 8 months old which is the ideal time, the bump is nice and big, but not quite full term, so it’s not quite so much hard work for the mother to get around.
Jess and Paul here were perfect models as always (I also shot their wedding) and Beckenham Place Park is one of my favorite locations, it’s huge so there’s plenty of places to shoot in that are secluded and private. Paul is seen here actually modelling with his wedding suit jacket, which little Leo would later on model himself. These little details I like to bring back into my shoots to collectively tell a story, and means that they’ll have a beauty of an album to look back on that’s cohesive and follows their sons development.
We kept it fairly minimal on the props side, letting Jess’s natural camera grace do the bulk of the work. I liked her addition of a simple pink bow around the top of the bump, really adds the finishing touch (even if they did then have a boy). One of the final shots of both of them holding up the very first set of shoes came out really well, this will act as a great reminder for them when they look back on these images which will no doubt feel like years ago already.
This was shot at my last house in Beckenham, however I’ve now relocated to Tunbridge Wells and now offer maternity portrait photography to Kent and east Sussex.
I like to reward people that take their time to view my work, if you’re pregnant or know someone who is, drop me an email and mention this post to me and I’ll give you a 20% discount on your photoshoot.
